A motorcyclist has died after colliding with a power pole in Beachlands, Auckland this afternoon.
Police said they were called to the scene near the intersection of Beachlands Rd and Whitford Maraetai Rd around 4.40pm.
The person died at the scene.
"The road is expected to be closed for several hours while emergency services work at the scene.

"Motorists are advised to avoid the area and use an alternate route," police said.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are underway.
