Homicide investigation opened after man dies in Bay of Plenty

A homicide investigation has been launched in eastern Bay of Plenty after the death of a man last night.

Detective Inspector Lew Warned said police were called to the scene on Saint John St in Opotiki at about 11.05pm, where one person was found seriously injured.

"CPR was commenced, but the man died due to the severity of his injuries," he said.

Warner advises anyone with information on the incident to contact police on 105 and quote event number P054943128.

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers by calling 0800 555 111.
