Police have launched a homicide probe after a man's death in Palmerston North last night.
Police were called to a property on Dahlia St after receiving a report of a man being seriously injured around 10.25pm, Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said in a statement.
He was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
"Early indications are that the incident involved parties known to each other, and at this stage, there is not thought to be an ongoing risk to the wider public," Detective Inspector Craig Sheridan said.
The investigation will continue through the weekend.

Anyone with information or saw a vehicle leaving the street at high speed around 10.15pm have been asked to contact police.
