Road closed after fatal crash near Hamilton

State Highway 23 is closed after a fatal crash involving two vehicles this morning.

One person died in the crash west of Whatawhata shortly before 7am.

Two other people have been injured.

The road will be closed for some time. Diversions are in place and motorists are asked to avoid the area and expect delays.

The serious crash unit has been notified.
