One person critical after car hits pedestrian in Christchurch

One person is in critical condition after a car struck a pedestrian in Christchurch this afternoon.

Emergency services responded to the incident on Owens Terrace in Sockburn at around 3.15pm.

One person was injured and they were rushed to Christchurch Hospital in critical condition, St John said.

Motorists are being asked to avoid the area while emergency services are there.
