The driver of a school bus is dead, with six students injured following a single-vehicle crash in Turakina near Whanganui this afternoon.
The crash occurred on Makirikiri Rd around 3pm.
Police said the driver died at the scene, with "six passengers receiving minor-to-moderate injuries".
The six passengers were assessed at the scene by ambulance staff.
South Mākirikiri School principal Greg Allan told Stuff the school bus belonged to his school.

“All of our students are uninjured and safe with their parents,” Allan said.
“We are currently supporting them and their families at the school.”
The serious crash unit is investigating.
