One dead in Hamilton motorcycle crash

One person is dead after a motorcycle crash in Hamilton's Maeroa last night.

Emergency services responded to reports of a motorcycle hitting a tree on Maeroa Road about 7.20pm.

"The rider was taken to hospital in critical condition, and sadly passed away in the early hours of this morning," police said.

"An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway."
