Pilot of light plane dies after fiery Taranaki crash

The pilot of a light plane that crashed and burned in Taranaki this morning has died.

Fire and Emergency NZ extinguished the fire after the plane crash in Stratford around 11:45am.

Police also sent four units to what it called a "microlight incident" in Stratford.

Flint Road was closed for a time while emergency services attended the scene but has now reopened.
