Two dead after two-vehicle crash near New Plymouth

Two people have died following a two-car crash in Taranaki early this morning.

Police say they were called to the scene on Main North Rd/State Highway 3 in Motunui about 1.30am.

Two people died at the scene.

Four others have been taken to hospital in serious and critical conditions.

Part of SH3 was closed for several hours but has since reopened.

The serious crash unit is investigating.
