One dead, five in hospital after crashing into tree

October 15, 2022

One person has died and five others are in hospital after a vehicle left the road and crashed into a tree in Ashburton this evening.

Police said in a statement two people are in a critical condition and three are in a serious condition following the crash on Gardiners Road.

The road has been closed while an investigation takes place and motorists are being asked to use an alternative route.
