Two people have died and two others are in critical condition following a two-vehicle crash in Rangiriri, Waikato today.
Emergency services were called to the scene on Rodda Rd at around 4.10pm.
Police said in a statement at 6.20pm that two people had died and two others were in a critical condition.
The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene, and the road will remain closed for a time.
The road is closed and diversions are in place.

Police said motorists should avoid the area where possible.
It comes just hours after another fatal crash in the Waikato between a tanker and a car.
