Armed police are responding to an incident in Napier which has left one person seriously injured.
RNZ report that a search is underway in the area following a shooting near the intersection of Tait Drive and Lamason Street.
Police were called to the scene at about 1.15 this afternoon, finding one person had sustained a leg injury and the offender had fled.
"Staff in the area are currently armed as a precaution," police said in a statement.
"At this stage there is no information to suggest a risk to the wider public."

St John said that one ambulance and one rapid response unit responded after they were notified of a "disorder incident" in Greenmeadows, Napier at 1.16pm.
One patient with serious injuries was transported to Hawke's Bay Hospital.
