A person has been seriously injured in a crash involving a cyclist and a vehicle in Christchurch.

The accident happened on Linwood Ave just before 4pm today.

"Initial indications suggest there are serious injuries," police said in a statement.

Traffic management is being put in place while emergency services attend the scene.
