A fire at Auckland's Sacred Heart College led to the school being evacuated on Tuesday.

A staff member at the school confirmed the evacuation to Stuff.

Fire and Emergency NZ say the fire has been extinguished and it started in an air duct, probably from an extractor fan.

Crews are still on the scene.
