Serena Williams holds her nerve to beat 2nd seed at US Open

Serena Williams has at least one more singles match left.

Williams moved into the third round of the US Open with a 7-6 (4), 2-6, 6-2 victory over No. 2 seed Annet Kontaveit on Thursday afternoon NZ time.

Williams has said she is preparing for the end of her tennis career, but that won't happen now until at least Saturday.

She will play Ajla Tomljanovic of Australia in the next round.
