FENZ search and rescue teams are saving lives and snails in Nelson, as the region picks up the pieces from its one-in-100-year flood that devastated the region.
The team recovered the fridgeful of giant invertebrates while searching a red-stickered property earlier this week.
Aotearoa is home to a bewildering array of native snails ranging from the microscopic to some of the largest in the world.
