A 16-year-old boy who was reported missing earlier this week has been found "safe and well", police say.

William was reported as missing on Wednesday after last being seen in Kilbirnie, Wellington on Monday night.

"Police would like to thank the public for their assistance and support," a spokesperson said on Thursday.
