1 dead, another injured in crash south of Hamilton

One person has died and another has moderate injuries after a serious crash south of Hamilton on Friday afternoon.

The two-car crash occurred on State Highway 3 between the intersections of Kaipaki Rd and West Rd shortly before 4pm.

Ohaupo Rd/SH3 will be closed for some time and motorists are advised to avoid travel if possible and follow directions for diversions.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised and the circumstances of the crash are under investigation.
