Two new cases in the Waikato travelled to Auckland before testing positive for Covid-19, according to the Ministry of Health.
Both of the new cases were in Kāwhia at the time they were tested but had travelled to the Auckland region before receiving their positive results. They are now in isolation in Auckland.
The cases were confirmed on Friday and will be included in Saturday’s numbers.
Four new Waikato cases were announced in a statement by the Health Ministry on Friday afternoon.
One of the new cases has been linked to existing cases, and interviews with the remaining cases are underway.
Three of the new cases were in the Te Awamutu/Kihikihi area, while one is in Ōtorohanga.
A pop-up testing centre was set up in Kāwhia at Maketu Marae on Friday morning, where it will run from 11am to 3pm for the next three days.
