Kiwi in London putting Samoan spin on famous opera

A Kiwi in London is set to present an ambitious twist on one of opera's most famous pieces.

Former opera singer now creative director, Sani Muliaumaseali'i is combining German opera with a Pasifika perspective which will open to British audiences this weekend.

The Auckland born Samoan founded Europe's first Samoan Arts Collective 10 years ago, aiming to reshape the narrative for western genres of music.

Among the cast is two Kiwi women, Christine Cook and Rhonda Browne - both are overjoyed to be performing after 18 months of Covid-19 uncertainty.

Europe correspondent Daniel Faitaua went to check it out in the video above.
