1 dead after car crashes into power pole in Southland

One person has died after their car crashed into a power pole in Southland on Wednesday night.

The crash happened on Brook St, Riverton, just after 8pm.

Police said the driver died at the scene.

The serious crash unit has been advised.

An investigation into the circumstances of the crash is underway.
