Rugby was done the American way as the All Blacks thrashed the USA in Washington DC on Sunday morning including tailgating boot parties in the car park and games of cornhole.

Halfback Nate Augspurger made history when he stood up Damian McKenzie to score America’s first try against the All Blacks.

"I think so I don’t but I’m happy I was able to cross the line, one of us had to do it," he said when asked if he had bragging rights.

McKenzie didn’t miss the reaction from the DC crowd.

"Just the crowd when he scored went nuts, so I think it just showed the passion that the American supporters have and yeah good on him. Done me inside out, so not so good for me but great for him."

For Augspurger, picking up a memento from halfback Finlay Christie topped it all off.

"That was a special shirt for him cause it was his first start so I respected that and then I watched all the other boys go and get jerseys I was like shoot," he said.

"Then low and behold he’s a top man he came into the locker room and gave me a No.9 All Blacks jersey."
