Before lockdown, things had been looking grim for Sully and Mike, two boisterous pups found as skin and bones.

With their owner nowhere to be found, the Christchurch SPCA became their home.

When inspector Jeanee found the pair, they weren't in good shape, needing a lot of love and care to get back on their feet.

"When I found [Sulley], he was very skinny. You could see his ribs and his spine was protruding through his long fur."

He's since packed on a whopping 30kgs, transforming into a completely different and healthier pup.

While Mike had other health problems, needing help with his sight.

"He was still quite thin but he also had problem with his eyes, so he had to have three surgeries on his eyes."
