New Zealand’s newest All Black was on a plane first thing on Thursday morning bound for the USA.

Josh Lord left Taranaki to join the All Blacks on their Northern tour.

He's following in the footsteps of the Barrett brothers and plenty of other Taranaki lads.

The two-metre lock put in his last practice with Taranaki before flying out to join the big guns. His next match will be at the FedExField in Washington.

A rural lad, Lord hails from Owhango, in the central North Island.

But, there's no doubt he's at home in Taranaki, where he's following in some well-worn boots.

While 2021 has left most of us feeling well-beaten, for Lord it's been a huge win.

He made his Super Rugby debut for the Chiefs.

And now, at just 20, the lofty lock is reaching even higher heights.

All Blacks players.
