It’s not every day an All Black captain turns up at your training, and even less likely in the backwaters of the King Country.
But that's just what happened to the province's side in Mangakino on Thursday, as Sam Cane joined the squad on his return from injury.
The last time an All Blacks captain trained with King Country, it was the late great Sir Colin Meads. This weekend they play Whanganui for the trophy named in his honour.
Covid restrictions have depleted the lineup but who cares when you have a super sub like Cane, even if he is a little out of practice.
