A former chaplain at Dilworth School has pleaded guilty to charges of sexual offending during his time at the school.
Seventy-three-year-old Ross Browne was vicar at Dilworth from 1979 until 2006, with his sexual offending linked to the school occurring between the 1980s and early 2000s.
He was first arrested last September as part of Operation Beverly, a police investigation into abuse at the school.
At the time of his arrest, he was the vicar of St Luke’s church in Manurewa.
He initially pleaded not guilty to the charges, but on Wednesday in the High Court in Auckland pleaded guilty to 16 charges against multiple victims, including charges of indecent assault, sexual violation, and possession of exploitation material.
Seven other charges he was facing were withdrawn.
Justice Kit Toogood set a sentencing date of December 2, 2021.
