The teenager who died after being stabbed at a Christchurch house party can now be named.
He was 16-year-old Zion Purukamu of Hoon Hay.
Zion was stabbed, along with two others, at a party on Medbury Terrace, Fendalton which was attended by more than 80 people on Friday.
“Police extend our sympathies to his whānau, and we are providing them with support alongside Victim Support,” Detective Inspector Scott Anderson said.
A homicide investigation into the incident was launched this morning, with a post-mortem now completed and a scene examination ongoing.
Two others, a 14 and 17-year-old, remain in a stable but serious condition in Christchurch Hospital.
“Police are determined to locate the person or people responsible for this senseless incident,” Detective Inspector Anderson said.
“We continue to urge anyone with information or CCTV footage that can help to get in touch.”
