Hundreds of Cantabrians have taken part in a memorial ride celebrating the life of Olympic cyclist Olivia Podmore, who died suddenly this week.
The event was organised and lead by her brother Mitch Podmore on Saturday, following an iconic Christchurch cycling route.

Members of the local cycling community met at the Princess Margret Hospital around 10am, before riding through to Sumner via Cashmere and Heathcote Valley.
"It’s an amazing turnout. Probably exactly as I would’ve pictured it and my sister would be extremely proud," Mitch Podmore said to the crowd.
Olivia had represented New Zealand in both the 2016 Rio Olympics and 2018 Commonwealth Games in the team sprint with Natasha Hansen.

A tribute to the 24-year-old has been placed at a special spot at the base of the Port Hills where cyclists often congregate before embarking on their ride.
