One new Covid-19 case at border, none in community

August 13, 2021

There is one new case of Covid-19 at the border today, the Ministry of Health has confirmed.

Today's new case - who is a contact of a previously reported case - arrived in Auckland last Thursday and they tested positive on day seven in managed isolation. Their full travel history is still being determined.

Meanwhile, there are no new community cases to report today.

The update comes after the Ministry of Health earlier dismissed rumours of a community outbreak in New Zealand.

No previously reported coronavirus cases have recovered since yesterday’s update, so the number of active cases in New Zealand is now 44.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in New Zealand since the pandemic began is now 2558.

From today, New Zealanders ages 50 and older are now eligible to get the Covid-19 vaccination. The next cohort, ages 40 and older, opens on Wednesday next week.

Yesterday 32,150 first doses of the jab were administered throughout the country, and 16,462 second doses were administered.

In total, more than 2.39 million doses of the Covid-19 vaccine have been administered in New Zealand, of which 1.51 million are second doses.

Yesterday, 6060 tests for Covid-19 were processed in New Zealand, adding to a total of 2.54 million since the pandemic began.

The Covid Tracer app now has 2.91 million registered users.

Today's update came via a written statement from the ministry.
