There are no new cases of Covid-19 to report in the community today, the Ministry of Health says.
However, there are eight new cases in managed isolation.
All of today’s cases at the border, apart from the eighth person who is in MIQ in Rotorua, are in MIQ facilities in Auckland.
The first four cases today — all part of the same family — arrived in New Zealand on August 5 from Malaysia, via Singapore. They tested positive on day five as a contact of multiple other cases.
The remaining cases all arrived on August 9. All tested positive on day one of their MIQ stays.
The fifth person arrived from India via Qatar.
The sixth and seventh people arrived on a direct flight from Japan.
The eighth person arrived from the UK via Singapore.
One historical case was reported today. This person arrived on August 9 from Serbia via the United Arab Emirates. Their results were confirmed during a routine day 12 test. They are currently in a quarantine facility in Christchurch.
Two previously reported Covid-19 cases have now recovered, bringing the number of active cases in New Zealand to 43.
Since January 1 this year, there have been 117 historical cases, out of a total of 739 cases.
The total number of confirmed cases in Aotearoa since the start of the pandemic is 2557.
As of yesterday, more than 2.34 million doses of the Covid-19 Pfizer vaccine have been administered. Of these, 1.47 million are first doses and 865,000 are second doses.
Yesterday, 48,611 vaccine doses were administered, the biggest daily total to date. This was made up of 31,804 first doses and 16,807 second doses.
Nearly 130,000 Māori have received their first vaccination. Of this group, more than 80,000 are fully vaccinated after having received two doses.
More than 87,000 doses have been administered to Pasifika. Of this group, more than 54,000 have also received their second vaccination.
The total number of Covid-19 tests processed to date is 2,542,575.
