Police are investigating the unexplained death of a person at a property in Wellington before noon today.

The person was found dead at a home in Strathmore at 11.45am, a police spokesperson told 1 NEWS in a statement.

"The death is currently being treated as unexplained while we make inquiries into the circumstances."
