One dead after truck and car collide in Te Kuiti

One person has died after a truck and car collided in Te Kuiti earlier this afternoon.

Police were called to Te Kumi Rd about 2.10pm. 

Another person was taken to hospital with serious injuries, police said.

The Serious Crash Unit is examining the scene, so the road remains closed.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
