A person has died in Selwyn, Canterbury this afternoon after crashing their car into a tree.
Police say the incident happened at 2.45pm on Windwhistle Road (State Highway 77), between Nelsons Road and Washpen Road, the driver was the sole occupant.
The road remains closed around the crash scene and traffic is being diverted where possible.
Motorists are asked to delay travel where they can, or expect delays.
