A Masterton petrol station was robbed at knifepoint yesterday morning, prompting police to turn to the public for help.
In a statement today, Detective Nick Bunny said the offender entered the Gull Service Station just before 5am armed with a knife, then fled with a large sum of cash from the till.
"The attendant was not injured in the incident however is understandably shaken by what occurred," Bunny said.
"They are being supported by police."
Police are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident, and have released in-store CCTV footage to help identify the offender.
