A homicide investigation has been launched after a person died in a South Auckland shooting early this morning.
Police were called to the scene on Beatty Street, Ōtāhuhu, at about 2.15am, Acting Detective Inspector Warrick Adkin said today in a statement.
The person was found with critical injuries and died at the scene.
"We are speaking to witnesses and conducting a scene examination today," Adkin said.
"Residents in the area can expect to see a continued police presence as we work to understand the circumstances and ensure the community’s safety."
Beatty Street remains cordoned off.
