One dead after truck and ute crash south-east of Palmerston North

A person has died after a crash between a truck and a ute yesterday on State Highway 2 south-east of Palmerston North. 

Police said the truck and a 4WD ute towing a caravan crashed shortly before 5.30pm in Pahiatua near Henderson Road. 

A person in the ute died at the scene. 

Police later named this person as Karen Diane Chandler, 67, of Hawke's Bay.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
