Police say they are investigating after a woman was found dead in the early hours of this morning on an East Auckland walkway.
The sudden death is being treated as unexplained as officers make inquiries, they reconfirmed this afternoon.
"Shortly before 6am, the body of a 37-year-old female was located deceased on a public walkway near the Glen Innes Train Station," Detective Senior Sergeant Scott Armstrong said in an update this afternoon.
"The death is still being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem will take place tomorrow. Police are working with the deceased’s next-of-kin, who have been advised."
Police have closed the walkway between Felton Mathew Ave as they investigate the incident but the train station itself is open to the public.
