Two new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded in New Zealand today, both in managed isolation .

There have been no new community cases of Covid-19 recorded in the country since Saturday.

One of the cases recorded today arrived from Moscow via London, Qatar and Brisbane on November 14, the Ministry of Health confirmed in a statement today.

The other person arrived from Dubai, also on November 14.

Meanwhile, genome sequencing of the cases known as A, B, C, D and E confirmed they are all part of the November quarantine cluster outbreak.

Of the more than 22,000 Covid-19 tests that have been conducted since a woman who lives, works and studies in central Auckland, (Case D) was confirmed as having the virus last week, only one other person (Case E, who lives in the same Auckland apartment as Case D) has tested positive.

The investigation into how Case D was exposed to Case A (a Defence Force worker) is ongoing. Case B and C are civilian Defence Force workers. Case B had contact with Case A, and Case C had contact with Case B.

“Wide testing around these known cases allows us to have greater confidence that there are not possible undetected links in the chain of transmission,” the Ministry of Health said.

“To provide further reassurance, we continue to encourage anyone who visited a location of interest during the relevant time period to get tested – to ensure we can quickly identify anyone who may have been infected.”

Twenty-nine people are now considered recovered from Covid-19 today, meaning there are 37 active Covid-19 cases in New Zealand.

Yesterday, labs processed 8665 Covid-19 tests, bringing the total number completed to date to 1,208,091.

The NZ Covid Tracer app now has 2,372,000 registered users.

App users have scanned posters 119,725,227 times, and 4,939,520 manual diary entries have been created.
