Person being treated for hypothermia after kayaks flip under Auckland Harbour Bridge

One person is receiving treatment for hypothermia after a pair of kayaks flipped under the Auckland Harbour Bridge this afternoon.

Two people were rescued by passing boaties, who took them to land, a police spokesperson told 1 NEWS.

One person has since been transported to hospital in a moderate condition, where they are receiving treatment for hypothermia.

People are allowed to take part in local, "low-risk" exercise and recreation under Alert Level 3, according to the Covid-19 website.  

People taking part in water acitivities - including kayaking and surfing - have been advised to stay within 200 metres from shore.
