Christchurch Mayor Lianne Dalziel to take time off due to ill husband

Christchurch's Lianne Dalziel is taking some time off from her mayoral duties due to her husband being sick.

“I am taking a leave of absence due to the state of my husband's health and ask that our privacy be respected at this time,” she said in a statement today.

She didn't give any further details.

Deputy Mayor Andrew Turner will take up the role as acting mayor for a time.
