Sir Ian Holm has died, aged 88.
The legendary British actor had been living with Parkinson’s disease for several years.
Holm is best known for his portrayal of Bilbo Baggins in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit film trilogies.
A star of stage and screen, he was nominated for numerous Oscars and won the British Academy Film Award for Best Supporting Actor in the hit 1982 film Chariots of Fire.
He was knighted in 1998 for his services to drama.
Holm died peacefully in a hospital surrounded by his family.
