Person dies after single-car crash in Taranaki

Police have confirmed one person has died following a single-car crash in Midhirst, Taranaki, this afternoon. 

Emergency services were called to the incident on Mountain Road at 4.50pm, with initial reports suggesting one person had sustained serious injuries. 

The road's southbound lane remains closed and diversions are in place.
