Two dead, State Highway 5 closed after serious crash in Hawke's Bay

Two people have died and State Highway 5 near Te Pohue, inland Hawkes' Bay, has been closed after an accident this afternoon involving two vehicles. 

Police were alerted to the crash at around 3.15pm.

A St John spokesperson said one other person was taken to Hawke's Bay Hospital by helicopter in critical condition. 

Motorist are asked to avoid the area if possible or expect delays.
