Man found dead in Christchurch forest named as missing Japanese tourist

A man who was found dead in a Christchurch forest earlier this month has been identified as Japanese tourist Tokuichi Sato.

Police confirmed the man's identity in a statement today.

Police recovered Mr Sato's body in the Bottle Lake forest on April 15. Mr Sato, 77, was reported missing in the Christchurch area in February.

"His death is not thought to be suspicious and has been referred to the Coroner," police said.
