Four more New Zealanders have died of Covid-19 , Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield says.

Three of the new deaths are in residents of Christchurch's Rosewood Rest Home - two men in their 90s and on man in his 80s. Six of the nine total deaths are connected to the rest home. All of those six people who've died had underlying health conditions.

The additional death confirmed today was a man in his 70s in Wellington. The case was linked to overseas travel.

Today, there were 17 new coronavirus cases in New Zealand, bringing the total number of infections to 1366.

Treasury has released scenarios of the economic impact of the Covid-19 lockdown – seeing unemployment hit 25 per cent if the lockdown lasts for six months, but kept under 10 per cent in another scenario with a four week lockdown and an additional $20 billion of spending.
