Australian hooker Hugh Roach's debut for the Crusaders barely lasted five minutes after he was sent off for elbowing an opposition player in the head in his side's 49-14 win in Brisbane.
In his Crusaders debut after stints with both the Waratahs and Rebels in his homeland, Roach came onto the field as a second-half substitute at Suncorp Stadium.
However, the 27-year-old let his frustrations get the better of him after he became the victim of a high tackle from Sunwolves prop Hencus van Wyk.
In retaliation, Roach threw an elbow at van Wyk, connecting with the head of his opposite, which was easily enough to warrant a red card from the referee.
Fortunately for Roach, the incident didn't cost the Crusaders, who went on to seal a comfortable victory despite their numerical disadvantage.
