One person dead in crash which has closed SH33 in Bay of Plenty

One person has died following a crash on SH33 near Paengaroa, Bay of Plenty.

Police were called to the crash around 5.40pm.

One person died in the crash and police say another person is understood to have been critically injured.

The road is expected to remain closed for some time as emergency services work at the scene.

Motorists should continue to avoid the area.
