Warriors coach Stephen Kearney is in agreement with the Bulldogs' standing down of the duo allegedly involved in the sex scandal dating back to last month.

Kiwis' second-rower Corey Harawira-Naera and his teammate, winger Jayden Okunbor, have both been stood down by the Bulldogs on the eve of the new NRL season, alleged to have engaged in consensual sex with underage girls after an official team visit to a school in Port Macquarie last month.

While the act is not a criminal matter, with the age of consent in New South Wales being 16, both players are in breach of both NRL rules and the Bulldogs' code of conduct.

Speaking to media this morning, Kearney was asked about the response from the Bulldogs, standing down two players ahead of their first match of the new season.

"I don't really have a view on it," Kearney began.

"What I know of our footy team is that it's not on.

"If someone did that in our footy team, they'd be sitting out this week too.

"It's not good enough. Obviously [coach] Dean Pay and the Canterbury Bulldogs have made a call that way, but if something like that happened here I'd be exactly the same."

The scandal is just the latest in a long line of indiscretions for the NRL, where off-field scandals have overshadowed Australia's premiere rugby league competition for the better part of the last two years.

Kearney lamented that the NRL continues to be plagued by such incidents.

"It's always frustrating.

"It's one of those things [that] the less time we spend talking about it, the better.

"It's been dealt with. I've made our group aware that it's not on. Move on."
