Person dies in diving incident near Whangarei

A person has died following a diving incident near Whangarei today.

Police say they were called at about 12.25pm after a report of a diver failing to surface off the coast of Taiharuru.

The diver was found deceased about 1.20pm.

The death will be referred to the Coroner.
