Domestic airfares have leapt in the last three months, increasing by around 8.5 per cent compared to the same period last year.
The jump in fares means passengers are paying around $14 more for their flight on average.
The hefty increase coincides with Jetstar's withdrawal from regional routes , and the agreement between Air New Zealand and Qantas to cooperate in each other's domestic markets.
